A State with Important History

In 1519, Hernán Cortés arrived in Veracruz and founded Villa Rica de la Vera Cruz. This made Veracruz the first Spanish settlement in Mexico.

Today, visitors can explore the Castle of San Juan de Ulúa. This historic fortress was used as a port and also as a prison many years ago. It is an important part of Mexican history.


Amazing Nature

Veracruz has incredible natural attractions. Pico de Orizaba is the highest volcano in Mexico. The Veracruz Reef System is perfect for diving and exploring marine life. The state also has beautiful beaches with warm weather most of the year.

El Tajín is an archaeological site and a World Heritage Site. It is famous for the Pyramid of the Niches and for its connection to the Totonac culture.

Costa Esmeralda

Costa Esmeralda is a great place to relax. It has quiet beaches and many hotels near the sea.

Orizaba

Orizaba is a beautiful city surrounded by mountains. You can ride the cable car and enjoy amazing views of the city.
